Mazda Looking Forward

Mazda is a brand that keeps its eye on the horizon. The company constantly considers how to best improve future products. It’s one of the many things we respect about Mazda here at Hiley Mazda of Arlington. The company recently announced its goals to improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of its vehicles. The first big step in fulfilling these goals is the introduction of the new Mazda Skyactiv-X engines.

Mazda Skyactiv-X  Technology

The Skyactiv-X engines will use a special technology called Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI). It’s a technology that many companies have been looking into for years; Mazda is finally finding a way to make it work. HCCI uses a controlled detonation which doesn’t happen in normal gasoline engines. HCCI also employs a spark plug to create higher power. In turn, HCCI engines can deliver a peppy acceleration but still offer the impressive efficiency of a diesel engine.

Improved Efficiency

As a result of this newly refined technology, the Mazda Skyactiv-X engines could offer an efficiency that’s 20% to 30% better than its current Skyactiv-G engines. We’re excited for the day that these HCCI engines are available to consumers. It’s going to be a new era of fuel efficiency that will be easier on the wallet.
